As a white suburban kid, I soon understood what it was like to be a minority, but I also the saw the hypocrisy that goes hand and hand with racism. These emotions can be seen on the first page of this story (which you can link to above). While it is fictional, many plots in this boxing book, Turning Pro, are triggered from true events that happened to me during this time.
